USB Drive Problem


i have usb 2.0 hd i've used , have number of relatively important files on, after updating, no longer shows anywhere in os x.

disk utility doesn't show drive, , therefore won't mount it. on mom's windows xp computer worked fine, no problems.

repaired disk permissions on startup disk, no dice.

suggestions (hopefully not involving reinstalling os x, have no way backup)

if shows on pc machine, chances not formatted macintosh hfs+ -- how drive formatted?

need help with itunes 7.7
