Upgrade Eligibility?

i've called 3 different apple stores, , they've given me 3 different answers. here's situation: i'm eligible upgrade, account not under name. however, authorized user, have confirmed at&t. question is, still able go apple store , purchase iphone on day of launch without main account holder being there? basically, main account holder need there or able verify at&t authorized user , sell me phone? rather go apple store launch wait @ at&t store , have them run out of stock. thank in advance.

g-ma , in similar situation , although i'm authorized without pin (her last 4 ssn digits) can't make changes or upgrade anything. finely gave me. haha. yeah long know pin thing , authorized on account you'll fine.
