since iphone 3g requires different car charger previous model , ipods, how sticky thread 12v chargers known work 3g.
 

griffin's new powerjolt (the black one) works charm. dying cigarette lighter port, long , thin form factor great job of staying in place. supposedly, can plug usb device it, potentialy serve universal usb charger (i may try plugging in ps3 controller , ipod shuffle). also, if wanted usb/lineout cable, use charger.
