Unexpected AT&T Credit Preapproval Experience


my wife , planning purchase iphone 3gs on friday. in hope expedite process, went our local at&t store evening complete credit preapproval process.

read couple of accounts earlier today, on forum, in people being told wait until friday, have re-run credit check anyway. therefore, had minimal expectations when went in.

surprisingly, at&t man suggested not credit approval, plan (voice+data+sms) completed, wouldn't have worry on friday. said, i'll 'sell' 2 blackberry's ($199 each) , can 'exchange' them on friday. noted if wanted 16gb model, pay additional $100 on friday.

didn't 'guarantee' phone on friday, or given 'priority', our 'processing' time minimized. expect true, took 15-20 min. activation handful of people in store.

anyway, said store had processed many new customers in manner on last few days. sounds taking advantage of '30 day exchange/return' policy, in order reduce workload on friday. no complaints us.

has else encountered similar situation in store?

1 last note, 'predicted' there number of in-store iphone 3g accessory sales on friday. anticipated these discounts available through accessory "bundles".
 

i'm not sure advantage at&t of taking 2 blackberrys thst no longer new. gives?

in case, spent 20 minutes @ store today instead of friday, not sure gained.

got preapproval today, rep ever tried enroll me then, did there lot of accessories on friday 3g. big markup on stuff, pushing them hard.
