UK: New Aircraft Carriers: £3.2bn down the swanny?

so we're commissioning 2 new aircraft carriers (currently) budgeted @ £3.2bn although total costs expected £4bn (~$6.3bn/$7.9bn us). hms queen elizabeth , hms prince of wales (ooohhh, scary!).

don't have problem them spending money, need them imo. i'm confused , disappointed further details read here.

our £2bn ($3.96bn) (per carrier) that:
  • gas powered (refuelling costs!?)
  • no launch catapult
  • carries 40 jets (which need vertical take off - more expensive)
  • 60,000 tons

~$2bn (£1.09bn) £2.2bn ($4.5bn) us get:
  • nuclear powered
  • launch catapult
  • carries 85 jets (which don't have vertical take off)
  • 100,000 tons
  • bad-ass

i know costs aren't simple that. still though, costs double, , isn't match our counterparts. if we're going spend billions, @ least our monies worth, please?

i'm sure i'm missing important details, enlighten me?

the 1 costs more $4.5bn , bulk discount they've built fair few of them reduces design costs ect.

nuclear ones cost on billion refuel every 33 months.
