Right choice? Buying macbook pro for FCP & Avid MC editing.

hi,

considering getting mac video/filmediting has meet following criterias:

1. has able run both fcp , avid mc
2. can't cost more 2,100 usd
3. has portable - can take around (going on flights) , connect ext. monitor wherever am. (i'd of course have external hard drive too)

i've come conclusion that:

mac book pro 15''
2.4-ghz intel core 2 duo
4 gb memory
nvidia geforce 8600m gt 256 mb

best solution meeting demands. i've read - on couple of mac forums, might slow system video/film editing?

medium length , long length projects (25 min.-1.30 min.), editing style pretty oldschool - meaning not using many fancy fxs etc.. using fades , maybe little 2-d animation of text once in while. , don't have problem not editing in highest res.
want able colorgrade in color @ end of editing process (on-line high res before of course), don't need able play in realtime for. need able see representative frame, , maybe render sequence, if want see final result.

so... macbook pro i've targeted going slooooow, purposes? or fine?

answer-

in opinion should absolutely fine
upping ram 4gb crucial, have indicated that

might want consider smcfancontol times when working diligently... may feel heat

go forth , conquer!
