Which iMac?

i've never bought 1 of these all-in-one desktop systems thought i'd come forums ask advice.

5 year old xp desktop on last legs , beyond upgrading hdd or memory, can forgo ability pop open case , modify system needed, given price of mac pro.

need desktop system serve hub of home network (aiport express, wifi printer, slingbox, mbp, macbook, xp laptop, , wireless web cam).

frankly, i'm not sure how used on daily basis. when used web/home office/some gaming (we not hard core gamers)/sharing media files/amateur photographer stuff eventually. haven't taken plunge aperture yet (need better camera 1st). no major video editing stuff other home movies of kiddo walking grandparents.

i'd 24" screen size , have thought 2.8, figure 2.4 ought support above needs. there part of me subscribes "buy as can afford" , consider 3.06 since that's system can ever be. having said that, don't want spend money don't have to, if don't need horsepower.

in advance.

when bought imac upgraded but processor speed because wasn't worth cost imo. use imac many of same things (web browsing/music/movies/word processing/occasional movie editing/photo editing) , have ability play games no problem (the graphic intensive being simcity 4, rollercoaster tycoon 3). if going buy current generation imac opt "low" end 24" version, leave processor speed, ram, , video card as-is , upgrade hd @ least 500gb.
