Help - Old letters on Mac marked as unread on iPhone


i got iphone 3g , synced mac mail. there's 1 problem: whenever read letter in mac mail , delete it, still shows in iphone new. here's example of i'm saying:

- e-mail, read on mac mail, delete it.
- later hit "update" on iphone's mail app. , show message deleted on mac mail , mark new.

there anyway iphone can update mac mail?

what type of e-mail account it? pop? imap?

sounds may pop , messages being kept on server.

need help with itunes 7.7
