Local AT&T store refuses to acknowledge post 5/27 free upgrade help!

so local at&t store being jerks post 5/27 thing that's been discussed. have link official at&t regarding free upgrade 3g bought first gen. after 5/27? i'm 6/1 purchaser , want darned upgrade!!! telling me qualify pay i've re-read comments brad mays at&t on subject , seems pretty clear post 5/27 purchasers eligible free upgrade?

 

while rumor spawned allegedly leaked internal at&t email, don't belive ever came fruition.

at&t's official press release july 1st states:

iphone 3g available $199 8gb model , $299 16gb model. these prices require two-year contracts , available following customers:

iphone customers purchased before july 11
customers activating new line at&t
current at&t customers eligible, @ time of purchase, upgrade discount
existing at&t customers not eligible upgrade discount can purchase iphone 3g $399 8gb model or $499 16gb model. both options require new two-year service agreement. in future, at&t offer no-contract-required option $599 (8gb) or $699 (16gb).

current customers may choose wait until become eligible upgrade discount. eligibility determined amount of time remaining on current contract , payment history.

current at&t customers upgrading iphone 3g pay $18 upgrade fee , new at&t customers pay standard $36 activation fee.
