Hard drive problem, will not load OS X (10.4)

okay, i'm supposed specific when describing problem, here goes nothing.

last night, (more 24 hours ago now), macbook took spill counter top, after seemed fine. on when fell, , continued on time while surfed internet , such usual until went bed, @ point merely closed lid, putting sleep. woke fine in morning , continued working charm until tonight, when, after closing lid, did not go sleep. happens when close , open macbook, , resolved re-closing macbook and/or abusing escape button little. time, however, not wake or finish going sleep, did forced shutdown thing holding power button down. shut down supposed to, when turned on, not go past gray screen apple logo , little spinning dots thing. shut off , on couple more times, no avail. next, turned on alt+power, , tried loading there. lead same results, put installation disc in , alt+powered again. did let me load disc, , leads me first question: supposed repair? (i'm assuming best way proceed. alternate solutions welcome)

should i:
a. verify disc
b. verify disc permissions
c. repair disc
d. repair disc permissions
c. combination of above.

also, disc supposed repair? 1 called fujitsu mhw2120bh media, or disc lists capacity, available, , used space?

basically, want working again without erasing data i've got. haven't tried else yet either (booting in safe mode?), wanted advice before went wild on thing.

finally, know idea try , files mac, wont possible right now.

i'd try "repair disc". selecting disc 1 named fujitsu harddrive itself, while entries below (those names see in finder) volume (partitions) found on harddrive. selecting fujitsu of volume in hard disc checked, should choice.

check smart status in left bottom corner of diskutility (should verified). if it's not verified drive failing.


if manage boot immediatly backup important data.
