Roland JX-8P or modern midi controller? If get vintage, get programmer too?

disclaimer: i'm total music production noob

i'm trying decide whether roland jx-8p synth $200 (possibly pg-800 programmer total price of $400) or modern midi controller yamaha kx61 or kx8.

not performing live music anytime , fiddling around stuff in room. want variety , flexibility, why im considering modern midi controllers come bundled cubase ai4 software, im really, attracted vintage sound of jx-8p. can reproduce vintage sound modern midi controller combined cool software, or able sound real, vintage synth?

can use jx-8p midi controller modern software cubase, garageband, logic etc?

if can use jx-8p midi controller, there disadvantages using instead of modern midi controllers?

if im not going playing live, need there pg-800 controller go jx-8p? can make same kinds of modifications sound other means, if im not going making live music?

thanks.

go roland

realize pretty late, wanted try out. yes can use roland general midi controller daw/ software. sure, modern controller have more options (sliders, pads, knobs, etc) jx8p great analog synth , semi weighted keys feel great. can opt 1 of korg nano controllers pads , sliders if reall had have control.

can pretty close original sounds software, of time loss of analog magic , fatness noticeable.

1 of advantages pg800 of course easier editing of parameters , should able use automation within software of choice.

in opinion, advantage having controller desk space. plus spend more controller versus price of jx8p/pg800. , still cool synth sounds!
