Custom Shortcuts in Pages


i working on document in pages, requires various special characters quite throughout course of text/copy....

currently, having go edit, special characters, , finding specific character in grid , double clicking put document.

isn't there way me assign keyboard shortcuts various special characters in pages, can type in these special characters, instead of having go through hassle every time need put in special character?

in advance...

need help with itunes 7.7
