Applications Delete Themselves


this odd problem.

using powerbook yesterday , noticed couple of pdfs had on desktop had generic white file icon, , double-clicking them resulted in os x not being able find application run them. checked applications folder , preview missing!

luckily know has same laptop copied preview.app file them.

anyways, today plug in ipod, set automatically update new photos i've added iphoto. except.... got error claiming had no suitable photo application, , asked if i'd reset photo sync info. , once again, relevant application, here iphoto, had been deleted disk!

i've not done on computer cause major change of behaviour such - i've been using normal!

ideas please let me know, don't wanna lose apps!!

powerbook 12" g4 1.5 ghz
os x 10.5.4
 

it more having hardware issues causing locations of files go missing? that, or has loaded script on system delete .app files.

need help with itunes 7.7
