My iPhone 3G is good to go!!!
• got local apple store @ 6am (pacific). #63 in line.
• line started moving (to loud cheers) @ 7:55am.
• line moved first 45 minutes. started picking up.
• reached front door of apple store @ 9:00am.
• waited 4-5 minutes in short line inside store.
• apple associate greeted me , escorted me counter. asked iphone wanted (16gb black please) , pulled 1 out of drawer , put in white iphone bag , escorted me different counter.
• apple associate used hand held scanner device take name , cell phone number , verify account information. had me sign changes at&t account ($30 data plus $5 200 sms). scanned various upc numbers on iphone 3g box, put iphone bag, , had me sign contract (which e-mailed me).
• associate escorted me associate told me having problems activation give try. unwrapped iphone box , let me remove iphone. left protective plastic on iphone 3g connected mac running itunes.
• after several minutes of "accessing itunes store" on screen, itunes gave error message. associate told me have finish activation when got home.
• left apple store iphone 3g in hand @ approximately 9:10am.
• in car, navigation display showed connection (original) iphone via bluetooth had no network signal. that's when realized without cell phone of kind. iphone 3g's serial number had been assigned account (replacing original iphone) and, since 3g wasn't activated yet, without phone service.
• arrived home @ approximately 9:45am , started trying activate iphone 3g via itunes. no luck 10 attempts.
• on 11th attempt, while itunes still showing "accessing itunes store", sms message at&t popped on iphone 3g's screen. @ time, see had cell service , of standard icons on home screen of iphone 3g. basically, phone sort of activated itself!after that, got itunes error message again. however....
• on next attempt connect iphone 3g through itunes had success! itunes prompted me register new iphone 3g (i had enter itunes account password) , asked if wanted restore backup of original iphone.
• restore backup (of original iphone) took 10-15 minutes. when finished, iphone 3g 99.9% how had original iphone set up. exceptions were....
1) had manually set voicemail selecting password , creating new greeting.
2) had enter wifi network password join network.
• new iphone 3g ready go shy of 11am (pacific). 1 hour , 15 minutes after got home , 2 hours after paid new iphone 3g.
btw, once got welcome sms message at&t, had full cell service. i've taken , made calls new iphone 3g.
love feel of new iphone 3g! fits hand more comfortably. plastic "grippier" doesn't feel might drop easily. , there improvement in sound quality!! not louder, cleaner , more full sounding!
no dead pixels!!
lastly... guys think screen yellow nuts!
