how do I force finder to recognize a DVD


hi friends, use help!

friend gave me dvd copy of show in together, , excited watch on imac, when inserted disk made noise 10 seconds , ejecting disk - no icon ever appeared on desktop. i've tried dvd on pc , in dvd player no luck - theres wrong disc - wondering if theres clever way force mac exploring files on dvd. suggestions?

need help with itunes 7.7
