The letter 'U' inserted in text messages


whenever receive text message on new 3g iphone, letter u shown in between message , signature. example:

hey mike hows going?u-chris

when used on old iphone:

hey mike hows going? -chris

i've noticed problem people texting me verizon phones. don't know at&t or other services have signatures try out. has else seen issue?
