Ping Server


hi there,

starting learn cocoa , have ordered recommended book. still hasn't arrived - curse amazon.

wondering if point me in correct direction in terms of how ping server based on input field. have linked input field var in class. have text field linked display output. need boolean or time response.

i don't know if there nice easy way in cocoa itself, 1 way use nstask , fire off shell command.

either run normal ping command (ping 192.168.0.2) , collect , parse output give user detailed information or run (ping -o -t 5 192.168.0.5) exit @ either first response or after 5 seconds. if exit code 0 machine reachable. if exit code not 0 wasn't reachable.

here nstask on cocoadev example. can call [yourtask terminationstatus] exit code of ping.

let me know if have questions on this.

need help with itunes 7.7
