so few days before iphone 3g came out, articles circulating on here intertron seemed indicate after buying new 3g, old iphone pretty act ipod touch, if (or person gave/sold to) chose not reactivate cellular service.
well, i'm in situation -- got 3g, gave first iphone brother, , trying use touch. before sending him removed old sim card -- because why ever give old sim card had ever been linked account in way party?
had him upgrade official 2.0 firmware, worked fine, after rebooting , iphone comes in itunes, says activation process can't continue, because:
"the iphone cannot used itunes because information required activation not obtained iphone. check sim card inserted in iphone, , not pin-locked."
option "ok". so, heck do -- not want use phone, if sim gets put in there looks itunes pretty going force activation, if brand new iphone.
ahg! can't find clear-cut information on @ all, other sort of vague article circulated on various sites claiming not issue, few days before 3g's release.
if can out, i'll thankful.
in advance!
nick
i'd know before sell old one. did upgrade old 1 2.0 though shouldn't ask activate while, i'm assuming when there's update, or if restore done.
