i've been using mail few months now. had few teething problems setting work e-mail account in 10.5.2 - of them problems outgoing mail, put down isp's smtp server issues - mostly, fine. 10.5.3 update went smoothly, when came time updating 10.5.4, , computer restarted after installing update, mail bouncing off dock error message saying mail server had rejected password.
know password's correct; it's still working on webmail account, starters, plus i've tried eighteen times in various states of annoyance->frustration->fury on past 24 hours. know there's no problems server itself, , while can't sure problem lies @ mail's end, i'm sure does, since account worked fine right until 10.5.4 upgrade , hasn't worked since restart. i've tried deleting mailbox , setting again, deleting .plist in preferences , going through setup again, deleting keychain entries mail, , gets same result: "the server [my server] rejected password user [me]. please re-enter password, or cancel."
support people @ work shrug off weird mac thing, , mail's not supported application tech-support issues guess theirs. work in assortment of low-paid part-time jobs @ university, don't stamp feet on necessary job; since can still send/receive mail through webmail account, it's nuisance. mail great! ideas, or should resign myself outlook webmail indefinite future?
i had problem 10.5.2. updated 10.5.4 , it's still there. use comcast , there must problem that. last week had bellsouth dsl , never had problem. when switched comcast, password keeps dropping.
ideas?
