i installed new ram year old 2.16 ghz intel 20" late 2006 model imac, upgrading 1 gb 3gb. installed ram , seemed well. computer faster , no longer using of memory.
week later went use imac , take out of sleep display resorts after period of inactivity. imac not respond. had happened day before well, , simple reboot fixed it, didn't panic. rebooted , didn't respond. power light lit up, , hear whirring on inside, fan or hard drive, or both, nothing came on screen. after few minutes of being on, computers screen turn white color upon start when apple logo shows, apple logo never showed , loading indicator didn't appear.
i've tried reinstalling ram, , putting in old ram. i've tried booting install dvd.
whatever try, nothing works. here have suggestions wrong?
sorry hear troubles, bummer indeed.
since have put in original ram, it's safe has nothing going on now. have tried zap pram (you powering machine while holding down command-option-p-r).
also, here apple how on resetting pram/nvram: reset pram
if no response operation (no startup sound reboot etc) then... things may more serious (logic board failure, etc).
if it's hard drive failure see ? disk icon indicating machine can not find it's startup drive.
zap trick... beyond that... try disconnecting peripherals (anything on usb bus etc) , turn computer on power connected... see does.
best of luck!
