Death of the On/Off Switch


just bought new speaker system ipod , it's new tech product i've bought has button put onto standby instead of being off.

noticed lot of new tvs same. know if there reason this? told things being on standby still uses 50% of power uses while on. don't want waste money can never bothered shifting furniture turn things off @ plug
 

items have standby mode in order able respond thing remote controls when 'off'. allows turn things on remote control.
figure of 50% high though, think it's lower, around 5%.

need help with itunes 7.7
