hi everyone,
i'm close making final decision on mac system replace 10 year old windows machine. have hv20, haven't used yet. intend shoot around 6 hours of total footage in 60i high definition. i'm wary of long rendering times on final 1.5 hour edit put on dvd. i'm going process footage through imovie 08, since need alot of time learn fcp studio , have short time line. cost vs. performance decision. trying bang buck without major speed penalty.
ideas:
mac pro 2.8 dual quad core, 8 gb ram, additional 750 gig drive, 23" acd - expensive, yet fastest processing solution.
macbook pro - dual core 2.5, 4 gb ram, external fw800 drive, high def 17" screen - great portable solution, $1k less mac pro, long rendering , processing times.
imac dual core 3.0 - 24" - 4 gb ram, 1 tb drive 8800 gs video card - similar macbook pro, bigger screen, maybe bit faster, not sure.
appreciate ideas on major investment.
thanks.
i'd if can afford it, go mac pro..
plus mac pro's can upgraded too...
if portability issue, mbp or macbook + imac solution..
macbooks can run imovie 08 , capable of processing hd video in 1080i
