If you have battery issues, which firmware are you running?

force restore in itunes. wrong firmware in orginal 3g phones. itunes not tell firmware incorrect @ time not bother check updates.

forced restore downloads correct firmware apple , updates 3g iphone exact same version 2.0 (5a347)that in last batch sold week.

in cases isn’t worth trying pull in backup of iphone of these corrupted. set new iphone on again , re sync itunes. should notice battery issue fixed after full charge useage cycle. after try keep batttery charged as possible last longer. use iphone when connected ac or on car charger if @ possible avoid using portion of discharge cycle. iphone battery has life 400 full discharge cycles.
