Buying iMac - best way to configure for Windows?

i bought imac today, got overwhelmed salesperson @ best buy told me had buy - in end quote $3900. not sure trust him tell me need (i can delete $670 in geeksquad assistance , warranty plan wanted sell me).

told need:

imac 2.8ghz w/ 24" display ($1799)
wireless keyboard ($79)
wireles mouse ($69)
time machine ($299)
hp 7280 printer ($259)
hp printer cartridge ($35)
microsoft office installed ($129)
vista ultimate full ($319)
best buy 3 yr protection plan ($269)
geek squad installation ($189)
geek squad network installation ($219)

our 5 year old dell dimension desktop died. figured time switch mac (they seem cool!). appealing since new macs have capability run windows, if necessary. husband , lawyers , work in pc environments. need able access windows programs.

questions:

1. told citrix not compatible mac, , have accessed on windows side of our imac. true? besides citrix, there few programs use pc-only.

2. best (and least expensive) way configure computer occasional windows use? websites/forums have looked at, appears windows xp work well, , seems less expensive vista. there reason choose spend on vista? see mention of programs such bootcamp, parallels , fusion ware (i think called). 1 better other our purposes?

3. have opinion on list of must-haves got best buy, , should not on list, or should (and not)?

not big gamers. computer used web surfing, itunes, photos , maybe (in future) videos/movies. should using mac operating system of that. draft documents in word, not complicated, seems use word on either mac side, or windows side, depending on advice.

advice appreciated!! trying not gullible buyer . . .

iirc, imac comes wireless keyboard , mouse, can cross off list.

time capsule not needed, wireless router , built in harddrive time machine. if have working router, external drive do.

printer you.

office, quoting windows version. use more? mac or windows version of office? chances need one, , easy enough install yourself.

don't need vista ultimate, can use home premium well.

i'd go applecare before go warranty best buy.

installations you, need them? or can set imac, it's not hard, , wireless network.
