iBook G4 Firewire no longer working


my 1.2 ghz g4 ibooks firewire stopped working recently:mad:. have tried zapping pram, reloading osx etc no luck. fortunately usb still working fine can still use external 500gb hard drive:), can't download video aging sony video cam:(.

suggestions, other chucking , getting new macbook/pro? (which plan sometime anyway, rather prolong life of ibook moment if possible)
 

you want reset pmu (rather zap pram) try clear port issue.
ppc's pmu (power management unit) relevant to:
  • sleep/wake issues
  • battery issues (such not charging @ all)
  • power-on issues
  • port issues (usb/firewire ports appear dead).
1. if computer on, turn off.
2. reset power manager simultaneously pressing , releasing shift-control-option-power on keyboard. not press fn (function) key while using combination of keystrokes.
3. wait 5 seconds.
4. press power button restart ibook computer.

need help with itunes 7.7
