Having various 8-core 3GHz Mac Pro (2007) problems - Mostly software related


for past several months, due being busy it, i've been experiencing problems mac pro.

start things off, no matter how energy settings set, computer not fall asleep. also, if manually put sleep, somehow wake on own.

second, fans. don't know if fans don't run correctly, sucker runs hot. notice high temps when use istat pro, installed smc fan control , cranked fans. i'd rather have fans work correctly , i've heard once start using smc fan control computer's smc can't control fans (so have keep using it).

third, safari not stay in dock. ever. came problem .mac syncing dock items (although i've kept safari in dock on macs). remedy had make alias , use terminal tweak remove "alias arrow" on icon.

i'm not sure when these started, seems they've piled up. want wipe computer clean, i'm worried losing important things may overlook. have time machine everything, i'm afraid restore time machine backup because think have messed system settings (which cause of problems).

if wipe drive (which 250gb), instead install system other drive (320gb) if put in bay 1, use time machine put files back... can choose transfer files are: 1) not applications , 2) not system files?

also, worth call apple? somehow linked other problems system?
 

i started having same problem refusal sleep. else problem? i'm going try cache clean onyx, don't know if that's going help. haven't had other issues, though.

need help with itunes 7.7
