3G screen blacks out and won't come back on-please help!


on third or 4th phone call before getting home, take phone away ear , screen wouldn't light show me usual options (volume, etc.)-it stayed black rest of time on call.
screen has been blacking out after few seconds (especially voicemail screen) , on other phone calls.
pressing home button bring screen @ nothing. pressing sleep/wake button turn iphone off , on allows me unlock , bring home screen back.

ideas?

p.s. have not synced on computer yet...only set in mac store today.

need help with itunes 7.7
