iPhone without data plan possible?


is possible iphone without data plan?

have lot of access wi-fi , i'd save $30 month.

have searched, talked reps, , getting conflicting messages. here's situation: at&t customer on contract , premier member family plan. of these options work? have of gotten work?

1. buy current 3g iphone $399, contract data plan, , call premier customer service later cancel data , wix block.

2. buy 1st gen iphone through ebay or craigslist, jailbreak it, , slip in current sim card. again, call request wix block.

3. other ideas/experiences?
