Ringtone purchased on iTunes does not play on iPhone3G


hello all. bought first iphone on 3g launch day. awesome phone, after few days started sick of awful sounds made while ringing. decided have sit down , make nice ringtone myself. found song wanted, realized wasn't 'ringtone' compatible, found version of exact same song on itunes store was, bought .99 ringtone .99.

honest in , of quite pain in ass.

aside issue of having pay 1 ringtone when owned song begin with, stupid thing won't play on iphone now. shows in list, hit , nothing happens. assign default, no noise vibration.

other ringtones play not 1 legitimately made on itunes. ideas why or appreciated.

(by way girlfriend has phone , has made ringtones before pretty sure not being complete moron had checked on did.)

need help with itunes 7.7
