Cant Install Leopard on used Macbook Pro...

okay, bought used macbook pro off guy, seemed guy, wouldnt try scew me on over deal.

anyways macbook pro has 10.4.11 on it, when asked if had leopard said couldnt install. fine, atleast honest. else worked fine, , laptop in perfect shape.

put in leopard install disc, , when screen says "what hd want install leopard on" there no hard drives shown.

go disc utilites via disc, , select hard drive, , go erase
says "disk drive failed, resource busy"

tried things partition, or else , wouldnt let me, gave me same error. weird because booted off disk hard drive shouldnt in use right?

anyways guys think? should do?

start trying again, instead of proceeding install leopard, go disk utility @ first opportunity , see if error same. perhaps repartition hard disk (you lose data on drive, including ilife programs, hope have discs reinstall them!) , format , try installing.
