How do you 'quit' iPod on the iPhone


so last night listening tunes on iphone on way town. when wanted stop music went ipod section , pressed pause on controls.

however, in top right still had little 'play' icon , find way of quiting application. in end had power off phone , restart.

missing something?
 

my play thing goes away after pause. maybe glitch?

need help with itunes 7.7
