iPhone 3G still LAME

i mac geek, , apple evangelist, , dearly want want iphone.

can't -- basically, feature set still awful.

iphone, is, @ last, phone operating system make real pocket computer (newton, anyone?), , realize marriage of phone , pda in way no palm or blackberry phone ever could...

guess what... doesn't.

sadly, large screen , big hard-drive features iphone adds on many phones have been around 2-3+ years.

palm or blackberry phone still heck of lot more. less money.

want quick reasons why still waiting "real" iphone?

how these:

* cannot use bluetooth keyboard iphone -- freaking point of os ability if cannot efficient data entry?

* cannot listen music on bluetooth headset -- have remain wired device.

* long we're talking bluetooth, "browse (bluetooth) device..." feature enables mac computer hands-on transfers of data via bluetooth modern bluetooth device not work iphone -- iphone have syncing via "mobileme"/itunes.

* , clever accessories ipod...? ones let use ipod mobile voice recorder...? foh-gedduh-boudit!! don't exist.

• puh-lease -- thing not have radio.

* sure, can buy third-party games, , 1 or 2 *slightly* useful programs iphone, nothing make iphone more useful motorola v551 or sony ericsson z750, in terms of real-world productivity. sad apple not live paltry competition when iphone more! example, iphone client filemaker?? doesn't apple still own filemaker? thing iphone seems have inherited filemaker utter disregard public needs. @ least sync bento, crying out loud.

• must third-party case, if want put iphone in pocket without screwing screen, or if want hold without slipping out of hand. 3g seems flimsier in hand first iphone release.

• battery life low compared many other cellular phones.

• reception , transmission quality still *substantially* better in many other phones

• new screen appears have yellowish tint

• iphone advertised having wi-fi -- apple representatives asked not mean 1 can access internet through wireless networks in vicinity -- must still go through at&t's data services plan ($30+/month). if don't connect internet time, , don't mind connecting when in vicinity of wireless networks in order save $400/year, plain out of luck. thankfully, wrong that, @ least. *are* required activate $30 plan when buy 3g iphone, apple , at&t reps can cancel data plan minute walk out of store, , iphone can access wireless networks , internet without connecting via at&t data services. (i waiting see if there not hitch in causes 1 charged data services mistake in case... little cynical at&t, guess.)

apple sell on top 3g iphones. there plenty of people use mobile web-browser, listen (through wired headsets) of tunes, watch (teeny tiny) movies, , waste time playing super-basic games.

nevertheless, apple should ashamed of drastically limiting productivity features make iphone useful, , flexibility apple faithful have become accustomed, , deserve.

people phone+pda in order real work done, still out of luck when comes iphone 3g.

me. still waiting until apple gets right.

 

a lot of points seem pretty picky, want bluetooth keyboard?
there voice recorder app.
app store has been live day, might want give devs chance before write off.
