2G iPhone cant get past start up


updated 2g iphone correct 2.0 install. got apps. worked ok day. today can't past startup screen. i've done half dozen hardware resets , it'll remain @ apple startup logo hours. plug mbp, freeze itunes indefinite 'working pinwheel' , startup screen remain lit hours , never past start up.
