iPhone and GPS Tracking


i know 1 thing i'd see app uses iphone 3g's gps track movements, , compute how far you've gone (not "as crow flies"). great runners , hikers want see map of they've been (iwth path hilighted , possibly timecodes) total distance they've traveled (again time codes speed can determined well, if desired).

have yet see close this, though gps devices have ability.

know if under development somewhere? enterprising developer here want create such app, geared towards runners , hikers , such?
 

i, too, interested in type of application. wish more inclined program because program myself. friend , discussing applications phone this. ride bmx bikes around town , love have application log exact routes take on given night , go see went on map.

features see:

1.) ability record, through gps, route taken.
2.) display recorded route overlay on top of google maps
3.) total distance covered recorded session
4.) embed pictures taken phone's camera , apply drop-pins every picture taken through recorded session. have drop-pins mimic behavior within maps.app--images slide in right , display when viewing extended info on pin within maps.app

i'm going stop there. sorry. hahaha

need help with itunes 7.7
