Loosing email attachments


i have iphone running s/w version 1.1.1 , have problem email attachments. can excel file or word doc onto iphone attachment , can open no problems...but next time go mail, reads "this message has not been downloaded server" in text area , loose attachment...even though still has paperclip icon indicate mail has attachment.
syncing mail account not problem, if mail in mailbox. or suggestions appreciated.
 

try force quitting mail (hold home button down).
try rebooting (scratch disk can become full).

need help with itunes 7.7
