Burn marks on my MBP

this more use mbps in closed lid mode external monitor consistently.

have home-studio setup connect larger monitor mbp while sits lid closed , audio work (cpu intensive), , i'm sure gets pretty hot. don't know causing it, computer has been unusually unresponsive , slow lately. thought may have been due leopard updates , logic updates.

opened lid other day turn computer on , noticed unusual @ base of screen. there black ash on computer!! mean, looks computer caught on fire!

have of ever experienced this? computer works ok (not great used to). seems working, logic incredibly slow , unresponsive. , seems computer working harder used things have been doing last 6 months.

of have experience this? third mbp apple. have needed replaced previous. each has not lasted longer 6 months.

attached files:

i use same setup 99% of time , have had multiple powerbooks (and mbp) running closed external displays attached.

same thing on of them when running in fashion. there exhaust port right behind area see "dirt" , in closed mode sucks dirt or debris in air. i'm smoker see nicotine stains in same area.

clean done q-tips , isopropyl alcohol.

far performance, have never seen performance hit on of them. lot of video editing processor intensive. may dealing separate issue if having problems.

can download onyx , cleanup log files, , of cache files (system, user, fonts, internet, etc). may have fragmentation issues.

utilities use general maintenance are:
