Black half screen of death


in last couple of days mbp has been giving me 'half' black screen of death.

more 3 quarters of screen.

nothing else appears, fade gray black screen.

goes away shut down, last time has still remained black after couple of hours.

can not see under screen, black.

ideas?

need help with itunes 7.7
