Making lens choices for my D700


well, may jumping gun bit - we'll see how long takes d700 pre-orders ship. given won't able afford pro glass while now, , i'd want lighter walk-around glass anyway, pulled trigger on couple lenses. decided go used lenses because a) credit card threatening catch on fire, , b) expect (or @ least hope) nikon refreshing mid-tier lens lineup on next 2 years.

nikkor 24-85 f/3.5-4.5 af-s - found used 1 (in "excellent" condition) on adorama's website. thom hogan liked one, , didn't find many people bad it. people it's sharper 24-120, , don't care vr on range.

nikkor 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5d af - keh had "like new (-)" 1 available. reviews i've read main weaknesses when wide open - , when i'm shooting wide, i'm invariably stopped down f/8 or f/11. apparently 1 of galen rowell's favorite lenses. waffling between or nikkor 20mm f/2.8, in end 2mm carried day.

figure can run them through paces on d70, make sure there aren't big issues either copy.

i'm not dealing long end @ moment, although i'm hoping nikon updates 80-400 af-s in reasonably near future. don't shoot long much, think 80-400 plenty glass needs - if goes af-s tomorrow, i'm going have wait bit.
 

congrats on purchase. leap d70 - d700 sure gonna feel :)

know nothing 2 lenses, seem have done homework. wanted congrats, , i'm supremely jealous :)

need help with itunes 7.7
