Is IMAP considered Push?


just picked new iphone, , have 2 email addresses set on phone. 1 sbcglobal (thru yahoo) account , university's .edu account.

far, sbcglobal account consistently pushing messages phone, .edu account not.

set .edu account imap, receive messages when refresh on phone. knowledge, should pushed directly phone, there else should doing?
 

the iphone supports imap, not support idle. imap not push without idle. however, imap still better pop because still able have same email show in same way no matter access (if read email on computer shows read on iphone). i've had better experience mail.app supporting idle, it's buggy , don't push email i'd like.

need help with itunes 7.7
