MBP not running Windows games to spec

hey guys,

first off, know mbp not ideal platform games, has sorta bankrupted me it's have now. got mbp right after feb revision, it's 2.4 ghz penryn 2 gb ram , 256 mb nvidia 8600m gt, standard. theoretically, machine powerful enough run oldish games oblivion perfectly, right? , new games tuning on gfx.

in fact, games i've installed on windows autodetect settings high or extremely high, , couple of youtube vids show people getting excellent frames in oblivion , (here's meat of thread) witcher rig or less. finished assassin's creed settings on high, too.

so, imagine surprise when witcher runs half-dead mule on computer. specifically, when dealing fancy lighting effects flaming enemies or glowing stones. currently, i'm in part of game on fire, , every setting on low, aa disabled , anisotropic filtering @ 1x, game isn't running half-dead mule, more rotting mule.

so, ideas off cuff? yes, i've updated video drivers, believe 176 or thereabouts (those tweak drivers, not nvidias). have no idea sound driver install other came off mac cd. 2gb of ram vs 4gb? mean, sounds gfx problem me, so... 8600 gt vastly underpowered compared expectations?

guys!
