Intel iMac resetting itself?!!


having turned imac off last night in normal way (and being fine!) turned on morning find desktop cleared, few programmes missing , settings in mail gone. second time has happened in last 6 months.

ideas be? , way me stuff back?

perhaps there problems shutting down, os x didn't save desktop settings. sure desktop cleared? or os x not displaying anything? open finder, on left-hand side quick access bar option "desktop." click on it. folder empty? if is, don't panic. files may recoverable, advise against saving new onto anywhere on imac, or using until either take apple store can recover everything.

need help with itunes 7.7
