PowerBook G4 lag problem


my powerbook g4 coming 3 years old , has problem such volume disabled, slow connectivity etc. , main important thing opens program , hangs. , mail has problem sending out, takes less couple of seconds time takes overnight , doesn't send! have no idea of how can diagnose problem. dashboard has problem start before. can help? encounter such problem???

pb g4 running @ 1.6ghz, osx 10.5.4 1.5 gb of ddr sdram. thank you.
 

what mean "volume disabled"? volume?

launch activity monitor , @ cpu usage. if see processes such syslogd , mount_hfs running (and taking lot of cpu) cause slowdown , lag syslogd writing error messages system log , mount_hfs continually trying mount "disabled volume". slowdown system crawl.

run disk utility , try repair "disabled volume" or disk. if external disk, disconnect , reboot. see if system starts acting normally.

need help with itunes 7.7
