Partitioning external for windows/mac backups, not boot


hi all, in advance read.

new mac , looking use time machine external hard drive. girlfriend has huge seagate external hdd , uses program creates small backup images on hard drive. here do:

partition hard drive such there 2 partitions, 1 windows machine (ntfs) , 1 mac backup (hfs+).

please note, windows machine not need access mac part , vice versa.

understand there program called macdrive let me keep whole drive mac formatted, i'd rather not that. instead, 2 separate partitions time machine doesn't try overstep boundaries.

how go doing this? (what program etc)
in advance , let me know if need more info.
 

all need make partitions disk utility os x. though may have else if need format ntfs support files on 4gb.

need help with itunes 7.7
