How to extend my iBook's useful lifespan?

my 2004-era g4 ibook, bought refurb couple years ago, still chugging away fine, i'd maximize future usability without pouring ridiculous amount of money it. thoughts far:

-max out ram. it's stock unit, result should nice performance bump not money.

-put on ventilated stand when using @ home. ibook doesn't blazing hot, maybe isn't big deal, battery area sure gets warm, when plugged in. might make difference on time.

-proper battery conditioning. i've been letting run down halfway, charging again needed. need more by-the-book method.

-i might hook external monitor @ home spare ibook's lcd screen unneeded use, except don;t know whether can put ibook screen sleep while external display keeps running....it might not make difference anyway.

-don't drop it. :d

other things can keep ibook viable , healthy?

mine still running tiger smoothly :) steps proposed work, these pretty durable machines, although screen sort of dim, hey, it's 4-5 year old computer, don't expect have brightness of mbps leds. maybe running maintenance on os periodically keep running smoothly.. since find things might lag g4 processor down. :)
