'error while backing up this iphone" trying to upgrade to 2.0


trying upgrade original iphone 2.0.

itunes sees new software, go update , proceeds phone. displays following error: "an error occurred while backing iphone (-37)."

run this?
 

error (-36)

had same problem when trying update version 2.0, error number (-36). idea far cause?
