Start up not reliable & occasional system freeze; ... please help.

my mac stats: mac g5 dt/1.8 ghz / os 10.5.4 / 2.0 gb sdram current system downloads; bought mac new mac connection approximately 3 years ago.

problems i've been experiencing many months:

1. seldom, mac fail start causing me forced shutdown holding in power button. if delay doing while (a minute or two), mac fan comes on rather loud.

after minute or after forced shutdown, try start again , mac starts ok.

2. seldom, mac 'freezes'/cursor not move, causing me perform forced shutdown described above.

3. when wake mac sleep mode, there 'pop/snap' sound audible depending on volume setting using.

note: in case had defective sdram modules, replaced them new high quality ram modules.

ideas cause , remedy of above appreciated.

thanks, chet
