Logo critique


hi all,

please give opinions on logo ideas (created in adobe illustrator). final product going used in science research lab conducts research using mass spectrometry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mass_spectrometry) bit tricky incorporate logo. first go @ logo design ever!

the red swirly line pulls eye away subject much.
colors dont work , hard mass reproduce.

simplify it! :)

need help with itunes 7.7
