New (kinda) macbook pro not reading discs well

ok... first mac... first laptop too... did buy refurbished 3000 dollars thing should not play cds , such perfection cook food , feed me too.. refurbished or not.

since i've never had macbook before or laptop matter... normal?

first, have program made windows/mac. works great on old computer dumb thing not read disc. figured since older program (2006), maybe computer wont read it. also, wasn't sure how claims work on both macs , windows work well. didn't give thought though program work (one of reasons bought own computer). however, thing sucks @ playing music cds well. these cds brand new fresh packages, no scratches @ all... older releases don't think should matter wouldn't think. first cd put in, read nicely... ripped took out. second cd took couple reads worked. third cd took forever!! kept
spitting out.

other though computer works excellent. if can't animation program work on it, @ least able read albums. so.. wanna hear others... mbp real finicky when comes cd-rom drive or grounds replacement?

got computer 2 or 3 days ago. got refurbished cause nice refurbished 1 , hd cost brand new 1 half stuff. since brand new 1 ended being 3k, went refurbished 1 more extras , hd 17 widescreen. plus said refurbished better cause apple runs frequent tests on these before resending them out or whatever.

anyway...

edit: else noticed right now... if place hand on right speaker area, screen starts fading dark. when leave computer , fades conserve energy... fades , lights after hand passes. hand can waved across way above , still this. wondering why everytime hit delete start fade cause pinky , stuff go on speaker area.

i don't know why computer not playing cd's/dvd's correctly can on second issue.

go system preferences, displays, display.

there box on bottom should unchecked.

"automatically adjust brightness ambient light changes", should take care of problem.
