seeing stories coming in thick , fast regarding peoples attempts iphone morning, thought i'd share experience.
set off @ 7am local shopping centre has both o2 store , carphone warehouse shop right opposite each other. on way noticed carphone warehouse shop never knew existed, literally within half mile of shopping center - so, rather potentially queueing shopping centre parked , waited there. 4 people in front of me in queue, , after around 10-15min wait, doors opened (at approx 8am). first guy claimed 16gb iphone, , it... no-more 16gb ones there! enquired whether knew if o2 or cfw stores in shopping centre have in , said "no, there's none in town".
disappointed, headed on shopping centre anyway. quite surprised see significant queue outside o2 store - no-one in cfw one! o2 store wasn't open yet, , cfw store had been open since 8. wondered cfw store greeted 2 enthusiastic guys let me have play on new 3g iphones , said had 8gb ones in stock order me 16gb 1 tomorrow.
cut huge story short, after 10 credit checks timed out - told credit check being carried out actual people, rather computer system. hour-ish later, had gone through, signed contract, received sim , hey-presto!
whilst waiting cfw guy told me o2 stores not upgrade customers, nor allow orders once stock had been cleared. in fact, said advertisements iphone (t-shirts, banners in window etc.) needed removed o2 store once stock had been cleared , continue run "normal shop" no mention of iphone.
so, hopefully, mid-day tomorrow i'll have iphone 3g! i'm @ work, won't use until evening, persuaded dad pick me store! i've spent £19.35 on apps in preperation - fingers crossed!
that sucks....hopefully won't sell out you.
