MacBook for HD video editing?


hello, i'm newbie forum have lurked couple of years waiting buy new laptop replace 5 year old sony vaio pcg-nv55e/b. think time ripe move apple since considering buy sony vaio vista. since reading on vista debacle, put off purchasing new laptop.

considering buy black macbook whenever upgraded according recent rumors montevina , new specs.

bought sony hdr-sr12 , 40" sony bravia f-1 here in japan use apple , os-x edit videos using imovie or upgrading buying video editing software.

question is, black macbook or upcoming macbook able edit high definition video footage?

plan purchase 23" cinema display wireless keyboard , mouse using macbook main computer.

i'm torn between doing or buying 15" mbp because want use macbook edit videos on go too. i'm starting pick favorite hobby of videography , wondering how go purchasing first mac suit budget , video editing needs.
 

how serious hobby?

once contemplated between getting blackbook or macbook pro same reasons you. video editing hobby of mine. edit 2 or 3 videos year, don't have demanding needs.

however, opt pro machine because figure in 2-3 videos make year, feel comfortable knowing have best tools available work with. also, comfortable knowing have power available if ever decide become more serious video work in future. big sense of security thinking have capability change if wanted to.

15" screen lot nicer @ 13.3" screen in opinion, , aluminum casing feels sleek , sexy. small aesthetics can change , enhance way work.

also, purely technical standpoint, doubt blackbook can handle hd video integrated graphics.

in all, think blackbook fine video if you're doing dabbling in imovie standard dv footage have fun or work fast, never consider running program more robust on blackbook.
